Dover Park Hospice raised $1,130,728.72 (inclusive of Tote Board matching) at its signature annual Sunflower Charity Gala this year, with Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Health and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies as its Guest-of-Honour. For this event, Minister Ong specially created a Chinese Calligraphy piece titled “福寿康宁 (Blessings, Longevity, Health and Peace)”, which embody the wishes of prosperity, long life, good health and harmony—as one of the auction items. Close to 460 guests attended the annual charity gala at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore.
With the theme “In Full Bloom”, the annual fundraiser was a heartfelt celebration of life in honouring the dignity, care and compassion that enables each individual to flourish, even in life’s final season. Many of the guests were dressed in floral attire and enjoyed a sumptuous four-course fusion dinner prepared by the culinary team at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore.
The evening, hosted by charismatic emcee Bobby Tonelli, opened with a captivating performance featuring contemporary dancers set against a stunning 3D projection mapping backdrop. The entertainment continued with acapella renditions of “This Is Me” from The Greatest Showman and ABBA’s “Mamma Mia”, performed by Syncopella from the School of the Arts. DJ Cherish kept the atmosphere lively with an upbeat soundtrack that drew guests to the dance floor.
The evening also featured a touching and inspiring story of Ms Lim Meng Joke, a non-verbal patient with congenital heart failure, under the care of Dover Park Hospice Home Care. Support from donors and the Dover Park Hospice Home Care multidisciplinary medical and nursing team and Art Therapist, have empowered Ms Lim with a safe space to express herself and reconnect with her love for drawing.
