Essentials of Collaborative Palliative Care (Basic)

This introductory course equips healthcare professionals with foundational knowledge and practical skills in palliative care. Designed for those with little or no prior experience, the programme covers core principles of palliative care, common symptom management, basic comfort measures, and end-of-life care.

The course uses a blended format comprising self-paced e-learning, a 2-hour online synchronous case discussion, and a 3-hour onsite practical workshop. Through scenario-based learning and hands-on practice, participants will develop confidence in recognising patient needs, providing compassionate care, and supporting patients and families during serious illness and at the end of life.

Essentials of Collaborative Palliative Care (Intermediate)

The Essentials of Collaborative Palliative Care (Intermediate) (ECPCi) is a hybrid programme designed for healthcare professionals practising palliative care who seek to deepen their clinical competence and collaborative practice. Building on foundational knowledge, the course strengthens participants’ ability to manage complex symptoms, address psychosocial and spiritual concerns, navigate ethical issues, and communicate effectively with patients and families facing serious illness.

Spanning three months, ECPCi integrates asynchronous online learning with two full days of onsite, case-based tutorials. The self-paced component allows participants to engage with micro-lectures and curated learning materials at their convenience, while the onsite sessions focus on application through interactive discussions, reflective exercises, and interdisciplinary exchange.

Key areas covered include comprehensive symptom assessment, psychological and social dimensions of care, advance care planning, spirituality, ethics, palliative rehabilitation, communication skills, nursing considerations, and grief and bereavement support.
