Dover Park Hospice

Professional Attachments

Dover Park Hospice offers professional attachment opportunities for healthcare professionals and students who wish to deepen their understanding of palliative care. Through clinical fellowships, observerships, and clinical attachments or placements, participants gain exposure to hospice practice, multidisciplinary care, and the holistic approach to supporting patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

Participants may come through national training programmes, postgraduate education, residency training, or undergraduate placements from healthcare disciplines such as medicine, nursing, pharmacy, rehabilitation therapy, social work, and expressive therapies.

Clinical Fellowship

The Clinical Fellowship at Dover Park Hospice is a 6–12 month programme designed to provide in-depth exposure to palliative care for doctors who are not based in Singapore. Fellows gain insights into interdisciplinary care approaches, symptom management, effective communication with patients and families, and the delivery of compassionate end-of-life care.

A key feature of the programme is its strong focus on community-based palliative care, enabling fellows to understand how care is delivered across settings such as home care, day care, and inpatient hospice services. Fellows will also develop competencies in managing complex palliative care conditions, responding to emergencies, collaborating within multidisciplinary teams, and may contribute to academic activities such as case reports, reviews, or research projects.

Clinical Observership

The Clinical Observership programme offers healthcare professionals the opportunity to observe clinical practice and gain insights into the delivery of palliative care services at Dover Park Hospice.

Observers are introduced to the interdisciplinary approach to hospice care, including patient assessment, symptom management, and supportive care for patients and families. Each observership application is reviewed individually, and applicants may be asked to submit their learning objectives as part of the process. Approved observership placements are typically short-term, not more than 2 weeks.

Clinical Attachments / Placements / Internships

Dover Park Hospice supports clinical attachments, placements, and internships for healthcare professionals and students from recognised training programmes.

Participants may be attached through national residency programmes, postgraduate education programmes, or undergraduate clinical placements from healthcare institutions. Disciplines include medicine, nursing, pharmacy, rehabilitation therapies, social work, and expressive therapies such as art and music therapy.

These attachments provide opportunities to gain exposure to hospice and palliative care practice, understand interdisciplinary teamwork, and learn how holistic care is delivered to patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families.
